Mr Sokolenko is a well-known Ukrainian economist, Chairman of the Board of Ukrimpex, President of the International Foundation for Market Assistance, Vice-President of Podillya Pershii Association, and Member of the Board of EAN-Ukraine.
Previously, Mr Sokolenko served as the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, department head at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and senior advisor at the Council of Ministers of Ukraine.
Working in Japan, Austria, Scandinavia, as well as at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) as a senior officer responsible for technical assistance programs in India, China, Korea, Vietnam and SEV countries, Mr Sokolenko researched and analyzed new production systems based on networks (clusters), their formation, development, and competitiveness factors.
Stanislav Sokolenko currently works on improving the competitiveness of Ukrainian economy through introduction of clusters, and popularizes the experiences of developed and emerging economies in Ukraine. As the Vice-President of the Podillya Pershii Association, Mr Sokolenko co-founded construction, textile, and tourism clusters in Khmelnitskyi region.
Dr. Sokolenko received his BS at the Bauman Advanced Technical University and a Ph.D. in Economics at the All-Union Marketing Institute, both in Moscow. He authored seven books on industrial clusters and globalization and wrote more than 130 articles on macro- and microeconomics. He is a member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, board member of the Chamber of Commerce of Ukraine, and board member of the Union of Economists of Ukraine. He lives in Kyiv, Ukraine.
